Parent and Family Engagement
The Parent and Family Engagement component of The NESS Initiative is integrated within each component in order to create an environment that fosters positive family connections and relationships within the family structure and the school/synagogue. Consultants guide lay leaders, education directors and teachers toward understanding ways in which parents and families play a key role in the education of the children and life-long learning by establishing goals and examining models for engaging parents and families. NESS believes that Jewish education must nurture and strengthen the family if it is to develop children who have positive Jewish identities and are committed to continuing Jewish learning and living. Parent and Family Engagement focuses on:
Involving and educating parents as an integral part of the school's sequenced curriculum
Bringing Jewish education/living into the home
Engaging the family in the school/synagogue community
Enhancing Jewish parenting skills
Promoting adult Jewish education for parents
